Best Energy-Efficient Induction Stoves
We started with the current list of Energy Star-certified models to find the most energy-efficient and best induction ranges and cooktops in each category. We checked to see if the most efficient models are widely available and well-reviewed by customers. Here are our favorites.
Best energy-efficient induction range
The Samsung NSI6DG9900SR is among the most energy-efficient new induction ranges on the market and on the Energy Star-certified list. It uses an estimated 189 kWh per year in annual energy consumption and is one of four Samsung Bespoke models with the same 189 kWh mark.
This particular model comes with a stainless steel or white glass finish, a convection oven, and a built-in air fryer. It has a built-in seven-inch LCD screen and connects to apps, smart home devices, and AI learning functions via Samsung’s Bixby.
The Bespoke induction ranges have review ratings from 4.4-4.7 out of five on Lowes with a price tag ranging from $1,100-$2,400.
Best energy-efficient induction cooktop
If you don’t need an oven to go with your cooktop, the Samsung NZ36C3060UK is among the most energy-efficient induction cooktops on the market and it's certified by Energy Star. The slide-in cooktop uses an estimated 189 kWh per year in annual energy consumption. It has a low-power mode and a power boost mode for faster cooking.
There is a 30” model, with four burners, and a 36” model, with five burners. The glass induction cooktop has a digital control pad. It is Wi-Fi enabled and can be controlled via app with capabilities such as a child safety lock control.
This Samsung has a review rating of 4.7 out of five on Lowes and a price tag of about $1,099-$1,199.
Best energy-efficient electric resistance range
The Frigidaire FCFE3083AS is one of the most energy-efficient electric resistance ranges on the market and certified by Energy Star. This Frigidaire is one of four Frigidaire models at an estimated 195 kWh in annual energy consumption.
In the case of this Frigidaire, it's a resistance stove with heating elements below a flat glass surface. An induction stove has no heating elements but works via electromagnetic induction and is usually faster. For instance, an induction stove gives you boiling water about 2-3 minutes faster on average. Both will be more energy efficient than a gas stove, but an induction stove is typically a little more energy efficient.
The Frigidaire has a convection oven, five cooking zones on the stove, and a 4.7 customer rating on Lowes. It costs $829 at Lowes.
Best high-end energy-efficient induction range
Italian company Bertazzoni has been manufacturing stoves since 1882. Its induction ranges are newer than that, and Bertazzoni has five models that come in at 187 kWh/year in annual energy consumption, which is the best mark of all electric induction ranges according to Energy Star’s list of certified ranges.
The stainless steel Bertazzoni MAS365INMXV is one of five Bertazzoni models with identical energy consumption, size, and performance specifications. It has five cooking zones on the smooth cooktop and a convection oven.
Best Buy and AJ Madison have the MAS365INMXV model listed at $5,699.

How to Find the Best Induction Stove
Everyone has different needs and priorities. For some, the ease of getting dinner on the table at 6:30 on a Tuesday night after work is number one. For others, maybe the exciting smart features or the creativity of playing Iron Chef are what you’re looking for. Here are categories to consider when you’re looking.
Budget: It’s up to you to balance features and the extra expense.
Energy efficiency: All of the Energy Star-certified induction ranges are very similar in expected annual energy usage, but differences exist.
Home electrification: If you’re electrifying other appliances or pursuing whole home electrification (with or without home solar panels), going from a gas range to electric is a significant piece of that effort.
Size: Most ranges are 30” wide. If you’re assuming you’re fitting the space of your old range, make sure your assumption is right. If you’re going to a larger range, make sure it’s a fit for your kitchen or you’re planning and budgeting for the extra installation work.
Speed: The time it takes to boil water is a standard test question for reviewers. Speed and heating performance can be a practical priority or a culinary consideration based on what you usually need. Induction stoves typically have high marks for speed and heating power.
Safety: Similarly, induction stoves generally improve safety. Additional safety features, such as child safety features, control locks, active cooling, control via app, or indicator lights, may be valuable to you.
Smart features: This is certainly in the eye of the beholder or family chef. You might want LED touch screens, connecting your front-door camera to your stove, turning the inside of your oven into YouTube content, or no smart/app/internet features at all.
Convection oven: A convection oven is typically an upgrade. It is also an energy-saver on average as food cooks faster so you have your oven on less.
Where to Find an Energy-Efficient Induction Stove
If you’re buying a new stove, chances are you and your family will use it for years. You don’t want years of higher energy bills just from cooking dinner.
You can use Energy Star’s list of certified electric stoves, with induction stoves included, to narrow down the search. An Energy Star-certified stove uses 20% or more less energy than standard appliances. With ranges and cooktops, you can use the annual energy consumption figure as the likely average for kWh per year it will use, then your local electricity rate (hopefully minus solar-powered electricity you’re using) to estimate the energy cost of a new stove.
How We Picked the Best Induction Stove

Frequently Asked Questions
Are induction stoves better than electric stoves?
Induction stoves are generally faster and considered safer because the surface isn't hot unless the right cookware is in contact with the cooktop, and it's cool enough to be safe very shortly after the cookware is off it. Induction stoves tend to be more expensive than electric resistance stoves.
Do induction stoves make weird noises?
Sometimes induction stoves, precisely the electromagnetic reaction taking place, can make a buzzing or clicking sound. This is normal and not a problem or safety issue. It can often be avoided with the right cookware.
Can I use any pot and pan with an induction stove?
No, pots and pans must have the right magnetic material, such as iron or steel, to use on an induction stove. Aluminum, glass, or ceramic cookware can't be used. Copper cookware with a magnetic bottom, or listed as "induction compatible," can be used.
How much does an induction stove cost?
The price of an induction stove varies a great deal. Searching major retailers, we found a range of $1,000 to $15,000 and higher. Additional features such as a convection oven, smart technology, a double oven, and certain styles or finishes can add to the cost.
