Heating and cooling costs make up close to half of American’s home energy use. With energy costs on the rise, energy-efficiency at home is more valuable than ever.

But wanting to make a home more efficient and being able to afford it aren’t the same things. Improvements that can make a home much more efficient, like heat pumps, can come with upfront costs that put them out of reach for many of the homeowners who can most benefit from them. That’s changing.

Quilt and Palmetto are partnering to offer highly-efficient heat pumps financed by zero-down, predictable HVAC financing from Comfort Plan, eliminating one of the biggest barriers to heat pump adoption: upfront cost.

The Quilt-Palmetto partnership

Quilt heat pumps can now be financed with Palmetto’s Comfort Plan.

Comfort Plan is an HVAC leasing program that eliminates the upfront cost of a new HVAC system. Instead of a bill of $15,000 or more, consumers make predictable monthly payments that cover the cost of the equipment, installation, regular maintenance, and covered repairs.

That reduces the risk of unexpected repairs and makes costs more predictable, all while opening access to best in class comfort at home. Comfort Plan is available in all of Quilt’s existing markets.

Homeowners aren’t the only ones who will benefit. New and existing Quilt Certified Partners will have access to accessible financing from an industry leader that allows them to close more deals and build long-lasting relationships with consumers that will generate ongoing service revenue and repeat business.

Top-of-the-line heat pumps and first class financing

Heat pumps are the most efficient heating and cooling solution available for homes today, reaching efficiencies three to five times greater than gas furnaces. Gas and electricity prices can vary, meaning heat pumps don’t always provide a clear savings, but the US Department of Energy found in 2024 that they could lower bills for most Americans.

Quilt offers highly efficient ductless heat pump systems. Two- and three-zone variable speed setups allow for even heating and cooling tailored to the conditions and specific uses of individual rooms, all quieter than rainfall. Industry-leading occupancy sensing means you won’t heat or cool rooms that aren’t used. Over-the-air updates mean the Quilt system gets smarter and more efficient over time. Convenient controls in the room and on your phone make efficient management a breeze when built in scheduling doesn’t cover your needs.

Quilt systems do it in style, too. With two design-forward finishes, including paintable and wallpaper-ready options, built in accent lights, and a small footprint. Quilt systems fit every interior design.

In addition to low upfront costs, included maintenance and covered repairs, and predictable payments for the lifetime of the system, Comfort Plan by Palmetto offers flexible end-of-term options to extend, renew, or buy out the system.

Energy costs continue to strain household budgets

Energy prices continue their march upward. Residential retail electricity prices rose 7.4% in February 2026 from a year earlier, according to the US Energy Information Administration.

More than 30% of all electricity use in homes went to heating and cooling in 2020, the most recent year for which the EIA has data.

At the same time, Americans are feeling stressed about energy costs. More than 21 million U.S. households—roughly 1 in 6—are behind on their energy bills, according to NEADA, a policy organization for state LIHEAP directors. And, 71% personally worry a “great deal” or a “fair amount” about availability and affordability of energy, according to a Gallup poll.

There’s never been a better time for accessible, efficient heat pumps — like those that will be installed through Quilt and Palmetto’s partnership.
