Helping partners navigate one of the most dynamic moments in the solar industry is what drives Troy Roble’s work every day. As Senior Vice President of Business Development for Palmetto LightReach, he’s focused on supporting growth across the ecosystem and helping move the industry forward.
How long have you been at Palmetto, and what is your role here?
I’ve been at Palmetto for about two and a half years. I’m the Senior Vice President of Business Development for Palmetto LightReach.
What does a typical day in your role look like?
Most days are pretty packed. I’m typically on screen shares or phone calls back to back from around 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s a hectic schedule, but we’ve been busy the last few years.
A lot of my time is spent working with our EPC partners, helping them navigate whatever the latest curveball is in the industry. That could be product shortages, competitor bankruptcies or cash flow challenges, or evolving requirements around things like FEOC and domestic content.
What originally excited you about joining Palmetto, and what keeps you excited today?
The opportunity to help build the LightReach group from the ground up was a big part of it, along with the chance to work with some incredible professionals in the industry.
That’s still what keeps me here. The team and the opportunity to continue building something meaningful.
What excites you most about the impact our work could have on the world?
We’re helping lead the change the industry needs right now and pushing it forward in a meaningful way.
Palmetto is in a strong position to help our partners grow and evolve through this next phase of solar, and that’s something I’m proud to be part of.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received during your career?
Go work for a big organization early in your career, build a strong network, and develop a reputation. Then leverage that network and reputation for the rest of your career.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work that keeps you energized?
Spending time with my wife and kids is number one.
I also enjoy cooking, coaching basketball, and playing when I can. I spend a lot of time teaching my oldest about sports and life, and my youngest about music and life.
Lately, I’ve been learning how to DJ with my youngest daughter, which has been a lot of fun. I also try to catch live music whenever I can.
Favorite Palmetto value or principle?
Customer First.
Favorite team tradition or ritual?
The annual sales meeting in Charlotte.
